I currently own a .25 carat solataire engagement ring with a plain band, and a 4 prong setting. We went to look at wedding rings today, and while I found some that were nice, they were all so ‘typical’. I want something unique, that isnt worn by a million other women out there. I would like a little sparkle and diamonds to it, but not too gaudy. I also like the ‘antique’ look, but with my plain flat band, I’m not sure it will look right? Do you have any pictures of a solitaire plain band engagement ring/wedding band sets that look good together, or any ideas of a unique ring to pair with my solitaire? Thanks!

I love your ring, the band with the pinched setting is really pretty.
First off, not every wedding band will match/fit, since your e-ring isn’t part of a set. You need to find one with a band similar in width and finish (my rings have the flat band like yours, but came in a set) – as well as being able to fit under the centre stone.
Using a wrap or enhancer is one good idea, too – you’ll need to try those on in person to see what type fits, and isn’t too much bling.
For an ‘antique’ style, see how something like this fits/matches -

We bought my wedding and engagement band set in 1980. it is 14kt yellow and rose gold~the band has roses carved into it in 14 kt rose gold and there are 14kt yellow gold leaves between each rose. I am trying to replace it. I bought it at Dobbs jewelry which has since then closed, i cannot remember the name of the company that made the ring other than it started with the letter B. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Barb
Was the jewler a franchise? Maybe they have other stores even in other cities or even states since the one you went to is closed? Try googling the old jewlers name? Maybe you can take the ring to another high end jewler and ask them, maybe they would know?

O.K. here’s the deal. I’m not a picky, pitch a fit for a real diamond kinda girl. I wouldn’t mind a fake diamond or a colored gemstone even. But I do mind plated gold, because it always flakes off eventually and I plan on wearing this ring for a long long time. I want white gold, not silver or plated platinum over silver, but everywhere I find that has good quality white gold rings, only sells real diamonds. GRRRR. Any suggestions???
I guess if we were a more traditional couple, then yes he would be looking for the ring, but we aren’t so we are looking for our rings together.
It’s not that I’m ‘against’ diamonds necessarily. I think, honestly, that they’re clear and boring and way to freakin’ expensive for what they are. I know, I’m odd, lol
Keep looking. There have GOT to be places that sell rings to suit your needs.
Perhaps instead of looking for "engagement" rings, try searching for a type of ring called a "right hand ring." These will typically be quite exquisite, but will also be more to your needs.
I share your views; my engagement ring is a 1K black sapphire in white gold, channel set with diamonds….LOVELY.

My boyfriend got me a 2 carat asscher cut diamond, and now we are trying to pick out a setting for it. I really like settings with the two trillion cut diamonds on the sides, but what wedding band would I wear with that? Thanks for your input!!
I would recommend a Platinum setting and leave it as a solitaire. 2 ct is already quite large and to add more stones on the sides just starts to make the whole thing look gaudy and something out of a bubble gum machine.
You don’t want the other stones to be a distraction from the beauty of the Asscher cut.
Less is more.

Two tone gold wedding bands are a great addition to any wedding ceremony. They encompass the meshing of two equals into one exciting piece. Two tone wedding bands can symbolize the coming together of two people to form a special bond. White gold and yellow gold often work well together as a ying and yang of sorts. Yellow could represent the sun and white could represent the cold, for example. Together, two tone wedding bands represent a cohesion between opposites.
At Perry Olsen we offer 14K solid gold two tone wedding bands. They are also available in 18K gold and Platinum. All of our gold band rings come with warranties. Take advantage of our attentive customer service and browse our collection of two tone gold wedding bands.
